So, hurry up and sign up to secure a spot.
Prerequisite We recommend that you have at least one year of improv experience. Ifyou feel unsure about which course would suit you, don't hesitate to contact us with questions and concerns
In this workshop I will address different types of fear and share tools to help you deal with those natural reactions in a positive way, into an Improvised scene. We will switch that unpleasant primitive human emotion into something powerful, an opportunity to engage with yourself, your partner, and the audience. Allow yourself to "fail", to be vulnerable, find the beauty of fear and learn how to turn a potential loss into a win. 3 Working Points:
• Understand and let go of common barriers and traps. Deal with your Ego.
• Learning how you can trust your instinct, emotions, and physicality
• Shift into creating opportunities out of fear to set yourself up for success
Failure is perceived as a weakness, defined as a lack of success or the inability to meet an expectation. Humans don't like failing, we fear it, get anxious and tend to suffer in advance at the prospect of either block (in life and on stage), looking misinterpreted, awkward or becoming a bad joke. But in reality, who established what was the "right" or "required" action for an improvised scene or character, when all choices are available and can be true? In the end you will become more confident in an improvised scene, knowing that there is no possible failure when the actors are focused, living the moment, being truthful and dealing with whatever happens along the way. Life is not always nice and we deal with it anyway, right? So do our characters.
The Show OPEN IT
"Open It" is an Improvisational Theatre Show where the inspiration for each scene is derived from the concept of opening something, suggested by the audience. The scene unfolds based on the initial action of opening literally or metaphorically the suggested item and explore its implications, stories and emotions. A door might lead to an unexpected visitor, reveal a surprising view or an eavesdropped conversation. A safe might contain a hidden treasure or a long-kept secret. A file could hold crucial information or a forgotten memory. A heart could open up a personal story of love, loss, or vulnerability. "Open It" is an original, dynamic and versatile format that leverages the universal theme of opening to create engaging, thought-provoking and entertaining improv scenes.

In this workshop we will address ways of deepening our truthful emotions, using acting techniques. How can we open our internal authenticity box to use it in scenes? What sustains and makes us feel emotionally aligned with the characters? How can we access our emotional layers to bring it to the stage?
We'll aim for truthful situations, also with silence and neutrality, to make improvisers be more real, grounded, and emotional.

In this workshop we will work on techniques to deepen the knowledge we have about our characters, during a scene. We will use flashbacks, illustrations, ghost memories, alternate realities, monologues, plenty of techniques that allow us to jump out of the scene to get additional information about characters and then come back to it and see it in a different and richer perspective, their words will have subtext, their behaviour will gain weight and we can easily explore stories from that.
