Summer intensive with Sarah Caroline Kenter (Denmark)

Improvisation Field Technique
Sarah offers Improvisation Field Technique as a tool to navigate in dramatic improvisation. The technique is founded on the philosophical, spiritual and scientific idea that everything is connected. The workshop will focus on improvised dialogue and introduce meditative processes that will expand your awareness of spatial presence and scenic energy fields.

About “empty”
You will experience a deepened understanding of the fact that an empty stage is not ever “empty”, but open; and you're not ever in lack of anything even though it might feel that way.
It takes courage to go on stage without a conscious intention and without trying to gain control either by pleasing, joking, deciding, freezing or speed talking.
By slowing down and taking the time to listen to the emotional layers of the energy field between you and your scene partner, you will find that the scene is already here, and you don't have to come up with a "brilliant" idea.

Impulse and intuition
A lot of the technique focuses on how to translate physical and emotional impulses into realistic dialogue.
Sarah guides you past mental noise and emotional confusion so you can experience clear impulses and let the intuitive intelligence lead the way.
Bear in mind that the workshop demands your focus and concentration.

Keywords:
Breath, body awareness, drama, emotion, technique for improvised dialogue, scenework.

Sarah Caroline Kenter
founded the professional theatre ensemble FELT in 2014 and has since then been teaching actors and acting students at IFT workshops, Ophelia Acting Studio (Cph), Copenhagen Film & Theater School and Nordiska Teaterskolan (SE). She studied theatre, creativity, voice, improvisation and energy constellations at Center for Creativity and Theater. She is a certified reflexologist with exams in anatomy and physiology; a trained psychotherapist, and holds a master’s degree in theology from University of Copenhagen. Therefore body, mind, emotion and spirituality are naturally and closely connected in the improvisation method that she has developed, Improvisation Field Technique (IFT).

The teachers of our Improv Courses in English:

CAROLINE FALK is a trained theater educator and music teacher.

Caroline's characteristics as a teacher and improviser is her playfulness and her joy of being on stage.
As an improviser, Caroline has acted in the shows Survivor, Bakom Fasaden, Citylife and Den Improviserade Schlagerfestivalen.

CYNTHIA MORISSETTE
has been improvising since birth. She discovered how to do it in a more organized fashion in a university basement in Boston. Since then, she has been doing so and teaching it in some fashion for over 20 years. She enjoys seeing people discover improv in their own basement - an actual basement (the most common space one can find people doing improv around the world) or a metaphorical one. Come let loose and rediscover the joy of play where rules are negotiable, and points don't matter.

EVA LÖFGREN
is an experienced leader and improviser who has led courses in improvisation theatre at different levels for many years. In her leadership, she focuses on creating a well-functioning group that has fun together. Eva is keen to adapt leadership to what the unique group will achieve together. She likes to work to find the space for audience feelings and fantasies, the complexity of characters and their relationships, as well as music and movement.

MICHAEL HÅKANSSON
stumbled on improv around 12 years ago, and he has been falling deeper ever since.
As a teacher Michael will always try to find a pleasant balance between silliness and drama, between total unbridled freedom and feedback, and between playing as a group and individual expression.

PER GOTTFREDSSON is the artistic director at, and one of three owners of, Stockholms Improvisationsteater.
Per has more than 30 years experience as an improvisor, teacher and director, both in Sweden and internationally.

STEFAN ANDERSSON
is an improviser, teacher and artistic director who started improvising over 15 years ago and has international improv experience from ten different countries. His philosophy is that learning improv should be fun and that the best way to learn the art form is through lots of joy and laughter. Seeing students grow and evolve beyond what they at first thought was possible is what drives him and what he loves the most about teaching.

TAMARA MAASDAM
is an improviser and teacher with an endless desire to explore and learn new things. For hr, improv is at its best when drama and comedy meet and when improvisers can make her both laugh and cry in the same show. As a coach, Tamara brings heart, laughter, energy, passion, and curiosity to the classroom. Tamara's classes consist of a good dose of fun and silliness as well as constructive feedback in order to grow as a group as well as individually.

ÅSA DAHLGREN loves exploring games and how they can help us become more intuitive on stage. She is working as a drama teacher and actor and has been teaching improv for the last 10 years. Her pedagogy, inspired by Viola Spolin, focuses on creating an environment where spontaneity can occur without approval or disapproval from an authority. She believes that if focusing on playing the game, without judgement, we can allow ourselves to be physically and mentally free.
